in response to pinkbunny...   I would recommend writing a hardship letter to the CEO of the hospital, asking for forgiveness of this debt. They may either write off the entire debt you owe or just part it. Either way, you have nothing to lose by asking. I have done this for myself as well as for others with much success. If you need my help, I'll be glad to draft you a letter to send them as well as finding the contact information for the CEO. Just let me know.

in response to granny4U...   Unfortunately, there are others who don't seem to care about the hard times that others are going through until they go through it themselves. I've been there and I understand. If I can help you by writing hardship letters to your creditors, please let me know.

winter time is soon to be here.the weather man is calling for 28degrees to nite and 21wind chill.i own a small cattle ranch here in northwest missouri.it seems to have forgotten how to rain here bouts lately.but we have it much better than those poor folks in texas.beef is bringing record prices and exports are at an all time high.but pitty the folks who buy meat from the stores they likely forget what it tastes like before they can afford it again. i really have a time of it copeing with my imbalance and depression i am thinking after 19months it will never get betterand the drugs the doc prescribes seems to not help.but what the heck i am alive and i have it much better than most.i can catch a mess of fish out of my own lake anytime, shoot a deer, squrriel,or dress out abeef if needed.iam just slow and stumbel alot.

in response to Al4...   Hi Al4,
Let me first thank you for the information. It is greatly appreciated. I have been going to school for the last year and a half online for Paralegal Studies/Criminal Justice. I am due to get my Associate of Science Degree in February and then begin my Bachelor's in Criminal Justice. I had to go on disability because of my knee, I am unable to work until my surgery. It sounds like you are doing ok for yourself and your daughter. I know how hard to is to be a single parent. I was a single parent for 17 years.

My only downfall is that no insurance company will touch me because when I was 22 I had a mild stroke and then 10 years later I was operated on for Stage 3 cervical cancer, which thank god I have survived! I am now considered a high risk! As soon as I am able to find an insurance company willing to accept me, I am going to have my surgery, recouperate and get out there and get myself a Legal Assistant position. Being on disability was never in my 5 year plan but because I let my knee go and not see a doctor before hand, I now am having to deal with a total knee replacement.

Again, thank you for all of your help. I truly appreciate it and I hope you and your daughter have a wonderful holiday season.

Sincerely,

Karen Gilbreath

in response to pinkbunny...   Thank you Johanna and I agree with you 100%....These insurance companies need to not act like the money is coming out of their personal pocket!! I would love nothing more than to have my surgery, and get out there and find a job and become a productive member of society again! Sitting around receiving disability checks was never in my 5 year plan!!! I am due to get my Associates Degree and begin working on my Bachelor's, I want to get this surgery over with so I can find myself a job!

in response to Jakes47...   I've been worried about money for 6 months-bill collectors calling-people cutting things off.But I'm still trying to stand.People have money and not going to give it to you they rather give to foundations they trust to see about people like us.You have to search them out and prove that you need it.Keep your head up.

in response to 12155...   Hi . Well there is still hope . you can match your ssid check with that work at home job like i am . It is easy . all you do is take a 4 day course online at nticentral.org. i don't work for them but i am happy to share the only work at home provider for disabled people like me .They provide you with the training and the jobs ,you have to apply but they help you . you need a good short professional resume submitted . then you get a telephone interview and then get setup for 1 and 3 day class . then if you pass you get your diploma certification and update your resume once more then apply for the job you pick they give the links . there are irs and Directv and some other sales pitch jobs . you will become peggy and get paid good for 20 hours a week .  I cant do maunal labor anymore or get in the sun or bend my head down or my back . But i can talk nice on the phone and i can type a minimium of 20 word a min . all you need is your internet a computer and a cheap 10 dollar headset mic to get started . I got my certs from nti university using my ssid Ticket to Work ticket . you get it at MAXIMUS. you keep your medicare and your ssid check and double your income . If you really need the money like Me and My daughter does and don't want to lose lights , or your car then this is a viable option . 4 hours a day . there are jobs added monthly . right now there are a couple hundred positions for home operators . So if you need free money i already gave mine this month to some people on here but i do share this INFO . you can start work in a little as 2 weeks from the certification and be proud you have a paying job for something you already do anyways. type and talk .
